Hey, I'm Giulia
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Florence, Italy.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Italy wasn't in the plans for the long haul. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The opening months were demanding — unfamiliar processes, new routines, fresh expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complex than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, met other families, and began building something that felt secure.
Why I Built StillGroveCandle
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Italy.
What This Site Does (And Does Not)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Italy
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Italy continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue documenting what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Florence or anywhere in Italy, don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Giulia
